Yoga Therapy for PTSD

Yoga Therapy can be a compassionate and effective practice to help people dealing with traumatic memories and post traumatic stress disorder, by learning to calm the mind, regulate emotions and decreasing negative physical responses.

Although yoga postures and mindful breathing sound easy and relaxing, participation in trauma-informed gentle yoga can lead to a significant reduction in symptoms of post-traumatic stress. How you deal with your feelings after a traumatic event, will determine the level of trauma that gets lodged in your mind body.

Yoga Therapy and Trauma-informed Yoga has the ability to touch us on all levels; physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual, which makes it a powerful and effective program for trauma survivors, allowing them to calm their minds, experience emotions directly, and to again feel a sense of strength, control and safety in their own bodies.

Mindful breathwork can also help trauma survivors, by bringing their nervous system back into balance with their daily life. Mindfulness helps you stay present, feel your physical energy, and enables the acknowledgement of mind body sensations without judgment.
